Welcome

Nicolas Imhof Welcome to the Olympic Capital !   -
21st July 2011

Table tennis players delighted by the reception and organisation in Switzerland. An audience so numerous that fans had to be turned away. A small hall with 1500 seats which ressembled a cauldron, that’s how close the audience was to the players.  Great promotion for table tennis through unexpected media coverage. No financial losses. The first edition of the Swiss Table Tennis Open Lausanne was a great success and it was only logical that we should continue our efforts.

The 2nd edition will take place on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th November 2011 at the Vallée de la Jeunesse sports hall in Lausanne.  The competition on Saturday will include three groups of 10 men and three groups of 10 women. On Sunday, the winners of each group and the top seeds 3 and 4 will compete in the 1/8 finals. The six winners and players seeded 1 and 2 will play in the quarter-finals of both draws.

With prize money of CHF 15'000 for each draw (in other words over 34'000 euros in total), no doubt that we will attract top male and female players once again.

Thus, in the Olympic capital, near the headquarters of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) which is located less than 3 Km from the playing hall, we look forward to welcoming you all again for a friendly and spectacular week-end.
Welcome to Lausanne, long live table tennis !
